I have not 1, but 2 Jakes in my life-Jake the Dog and Jake the Boyfriend (and yes, that IS how they are identified in real life). They bring me so much joy in my life daily, that I thought to myself one day, "Why not share them with everyone?!"

Hence, Jake² Thursday came to be :)

Health Update Thursday(2/2)

This Health Update Thursday, I come bearing good news! The past week or so, I've been doing extremely well *knock wood* Ever since last Friday/Saturday, I've been up and walking without Johnny (my walker), I've been keeping active around the house and out and about, and I've been keeping up with everything I need to keep up with.

The past couple of months, I've barely been out of my house and within this past week I've gone to a bar for my boyfriend's gig, had a date night with Jake, went shopping with my mom complete with a couponing trip to the local grocery store, and it just keeps on going!

I've been waiting for a setback, but I have a feeling that this is the start of something great *knock wood*

Even though I'm doing pretty good, there are still those symptoms that stay with me throughout the day. I've noticed that the mornings are the worst for me and it takes me a little while to get going.

I've also been having a lot of issues with food. It seems like everything I eat sets me off one way or another and frankly its gotten to the point where I'm scared to eat anything at all! On my date night with Jake, I stupidly gorged myself on sugar and thought I was dying O.o

Now, my gorge is probably different then a normal person's gorge, but none the less, when I laid down to go to sleep that night, I swear I felt like I was dying and having a heart attack. It never ceases to amaze me at what food can do to my body.

I'm definitely looking into my eating and trying to be even more cognoscente then I already am. That and I will freely admit that I need a little more will power ^.^

I know it's nearly the end of January (already!?), but I want to bring up those dreaded New Year's Resolutions! Since it's nearly been a month since the rollover from the big 11' to the even bigger 12,' I want to know how you're doing with your resolutions!

*Exercise more, even if that day I'm only able to do some stretching.
*Continue to eat healthy. I already eat very healthy, but there's always room for improvement, right?
*Learn to relax!

I'm Gettin' me an Edumacation!

The last time anybody heard, I was involved in not one, but TWO online classes at my local community college that started last Fall and SHOULD have got done a little before Christmas, but for particular reasons, I'm still waiting to finish at least one of those classes up.

I'm actually pretty proud of myself that even through a crisis, I was able to keep a steady head and do what I can to finish those classes; even if I had to take an incomplete because I couldn't take both class's finals on time.

Now that I'm doing considerably better (thank goodness!), I was able to contact my Psychology teacher and get that test done a few days ago, to which I received a 89.3%! If you know me, you know I'm a perfectionist through and through, so A's are always, ALWAYS what I aim for and I think B's are the devil's work!

Okay, so that was a little dramatic...

We'll just say B's have always disappointed me even though it's a considerably good grade. Don't worry though, I am working on that outlook.

B's are wonderful! B's are wonderful! B's are wonderful!

Anywho, I find it great that my final grade in the General Psychology class is a 89.95%. 0.5% away from an A.

General Psychology is over and done with, so that's what is most important. Now, Introduction to Business on the other hand, is giving me some issues. I should actually say the TEACHER is giving me some issues! This teacher agreed back in December to give me an incomplete and allow me to take the test when I was able to. I've contacted said teacher at least 5 times within the past couple weeks and I haven't heard anything except, "I have to review your situation before we proceed."

I just want to be able to take the darn thing and get it over and done with!

These are actually the first two classes I've been able to get through fully without dropping out because of health related issues since Spring of 2010. I'm very proud that I was able to stick to them both and gain a total of 6 more credits (3 per class)!

I now have a grand total of almost 15 credits under my belt :)

Slowly but surely people, slowly but surely.

Today is a very special day. Today, my boyfriend of nearly a year and a half turns 21 years old.

Go ahead and call me a cougar if you must-After all, I AM older ;)

February 3rd marks our year and a half anniversary and quite honestly, the past year and a half has been probably the most incredible in my life thus far just for the sheer fact of Jake. He's touched my life with more happiness, wonder, and amazement since the day he first text messaged me, "Hey, this is Jake, Christine's friend."

(Christine is my best friend who introduced us)

I never knew quite that I wanted a relationship and what I was missing until life gave me him.

Of course it hasn't always been rose petals and sunshine. We've had our share of normal couple's fights and situations that really aren't found in that of a run-of-the-mill relationship, but the best, and probably my personal favorite, part of this particular relationship is we get through them all together.

Not only is today his birthday, but it's his golden birthday-Unfortunately, I cannot be with him today, but that doesn't stop me from loving him with everything I have and wishing him as much happiness today as he brings to me everyday :)

I love you baby.

Health Update Thursday(1/19)

I know many of you are quite curious as to my health status at this point in time-I can't say I'm completely better then I was about a month ago when I took my blogging leave, but I can't say I'm worse either.

The truth is I AM better and I'm continuing to get better, but it's slow. Very, very slow, frustrating, and confusing to say the least.

I'm still trying to put together what happened back in November and December in a post because it was a very long and extremely painful process for me including ER visits, hospitals stays, a minor surgery and a lot of scary, which involved one of my ovaries.

As of right now though, like I said, things are getting better thanks in large part to my medical intuitive whom we fell back upon during the past few months when things got rough and whom has definitely made the most sense in all of this.

I've been taking the herbs, vitamins, and supplements that she recommends religiously and, like everything else in this crazy disease, I have my good days and I have my bad. The thing I've learned quite quickly: It can change in a matter of minutes, so enjoy the good while it lasts and work through the bad to have more good.

Because of everything going on, I see many different symptoms on a daily basis-One day it'll be feet so sore that I have to wear slippers to even walk on them and the next it will be a horrible migraine right out of the blue. Yesterday, I woke up with chest pain that continued throughout the whole day, which I haven't had in a while.

Of course, that doesn't include the normal, everyday joint, muscle and nerve pain, overall body stiffness, trouble walking, brain fog, etc.

We've figured out a lot of my issues comes down to detox. My M.I. calls it 'wasting' where I will eat something, take my supplements, exercise, etc to kill off all the toxins that are circulating around in my body, however my body can't naturally detox on its own, so once I start killing, there's no where for the toxicity to go.

So, I'm sure it goes without saying that blogging for me is going to be a little touch and go due to everything going on with my health and how sporadic life is-Just know that I'm around and I'm taking advantages of those good days when they're there and working through those bad to get to more good :)

Thank you all for sticking with me and for all your love, support, kindness, thoughts and prayers. Aside from all the supplements, doctors and treatments, that is what helps heal me, too.

Betty White is an icon in not only television, but in life as well. She's done so much for different charities, especially anything involving animals and animal rights.

She is truly, in my opinion, one of the greatest people on this earth today and she will forever be a legacy.

I'm convinced she's going to live forever xD

I don't have to worry about sleep talking (at least I don't think so anyway). What I do have to worry about, however, is sleep texting.

You may or may not have read about the sleep text conversation between my boyfriend and I awhile back. If you haven't, definitely check it out for a few kicks and giggles :)

Anyway, the other night I had a dream and all I can remember of it was I got the woman's monthly curse and asked my boyfriend to go get me a pad, to which he returned with one of those really dinky ones. Well, that wouldn't do, so I lovingly informed him, "I need a bigger pad babe because I'm a heavy flow kinda girl."

Well, unbenounced to me at the time, I actually woke up from my dream and TEXTED my boyfriend this little gem:

"Just for future reference, I'm a heavy flow kinda girl."

I saw that when I woke up the next morning and nearly died of laughter.

Another year has come and gone and I'm left sitting here thinking to myself, "What the hell!?" Seriously, WHERE did this whole year go; 365 days. 52 weeks. 12 months. All gone in what seems like the blink of an eye.

Truth be told, 2011 hasn't been that great of a year for me-my health has been continuously bad off and on the whole year where most years I'm good for at least a couple months at a time. Things have happened that I will never forget, both good, bad, and life changing.

-I celebrated my 2 year blogoversary.
-I was able to see my boyfriend for the first time preform a show with his band, Case In Point.
-I celebrated my 1 year anniversary with the love of my life on August 3.
-I started my first few online classes in the Fall at the local community college.
-I turned 22.

I can't say 2011 was the best year I've ever had, but it was definitely one that made me grow. As for this upcoming year, I have high hopes; there is a pattern I seem to follow: 2008 was a good year. 2009 sucked. 2010 was a good year. 2011 sucked. 2012...?

I have a good feeling about 2012 *fingers crossed*

Welcome Tami of GretelCreations on Etsy!

Originally from Germany, Tami moved to Wales located in the United Kingdom about 8 years ago.

She specializes in selling handmade amigurumi kawaii felt plushies and her shop and merchandise is all OOAK. Her wonderfully creative motto: "Selling cutable critters and nifty niceties made from my own designs."

Due to a love of baking and an old dream, the name of her current Etsy shop, GretelCreations, came about-"I used to love baking and had this dream of opening my own german-style bakery one day, which I wanted to call GretelCakes – So GretelCreations is just a variation of an old idea."

Currently however, Tami's 'cutable critters and nifty niceties' are just a side hobby as her full-time job is a position with the NHS. As of right now, though, she still finds herself on maternity leave, so there is still a little more time to work on her hobby while taking care of the baby.

Like many crafters, Tami has always taken enjoyment out of arts and crafts and has tried her hand at several things throughout the years. "About a year ago I taught myself how to crochet. At that time I was pregnant with my son and found myself in full-blown nesting mode so doing something creative just came natural."

Once crocheting stuck, she found several mediums she liked to work and create with, three of which are wool, felt, and yarn. She also told me that she takes a great deal of enjoyment out of embroidery as well.

I was injured yesterday as you can see from the picture I took of the wound.

I was shanked by an orange O.o

From getting a splinter while cleaning out a lint trap to getting shanked by an orange I was peeling, I came to the conclusion that I get hurt through extremely odd happenstances!

With Thanksgiving this week, I thought this pumpkin pie ornament my friend Lu of Crocheted Little Things makes is just too darn adorable not to share!

Quite honestly, I don't have any spectacular plans today-It's going to be pretty quite around here since my sister is away at school and my dad is leaving for a hunting trip this afternoon.

Jake the Boyfriend took off work though, so he's going to spend the whole day with me, as will my mommy :)

Although, Murphy had to give me a little not-so-welcome present on this, my day of birth-Let's just say being a woman bites the big one O.o

But regardless, I'm going to enjoy it as much as I can!

And take lots of pictures to share hopefully ^.^

Taking up residence in Caldwell, Idaho with her wonderful husband and two beautiful daughters, Elaine can be found making and selling her lovely hand crafted inspirational home decor signs.

You can find all sorts of signs in Elaine's Etsy shop from inspirational sayings, custom name signs for kids and adults, family name plaques-anything you can think up, I'm sure she can make it into a hang-able sign to display proudly in your home.

Being a crafty person since she was a little one, Elaine loves to create things, especially her signs. "I enjoy making signs that will put a smile on someone's face and brighten their day!" Aside from her signs, scrapbooking, card making, and sewing are favorites as well.

Submarine Movie Review

Movie Synopsis:

15 year old Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) is somewhat of a normal teenage boy; going to school, dealing with bullies, crushing on girls, namely, Jordana Bevan (Yasmin Paige).

Throw in his growing concern over his parent's stale marriage (Noah Taylor, Sally Hawkins), his father's depression, and his mother's supposed affair with an old flame who just moved in next door, things get complicated for Oliver pretty fast.

When Jordana starts showing him attention, and they start spending more and more time together, Oliver's priorities get skewed and he ends up hurting people in the process of his journey to set things right again.

My Thoughts:

I'm a huge fan of off-the-wall Indie movies and when I saw the trailer for Submarine, I knew I HAD to see it!

Redbox is a beautiful, beautiful invention :)

Anyway, I thought the movie was just okay-The characters were definitely interesting (I swear, Yasmin Paige looks SO familiar) and the acting was bizarre and odd, just as the screenplay calls for it, so I really commend the actors for doing a fabulous job.

The writing throughout the movie was decent, too. It was quite humorous in a very dry sort of way, and as said above, bizarre and odd.

The only complains I have about the movie is it seemed to drag, the plot could have been executed better (was a little all over the place for my liking), and it was harder to understand some of what the actors were saying, but I think that last one is understandable seeing the movie and actors are based in Wales.

All in all, an okay movie. Not magnificent, but not completely I-want-the-last-two-hours-of-my-life-back bad. If you're an Indie lover and have an odd sense of humor, I'd say give it a watch!

As you all know, my beloved 4 to 5 year old Sony Cybershot point-and-shoot digital camera just recently went kapoot on me, leaving me alone and pictureless.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me because of two main reasons:

1. My internet jewelry businesses involve taking a LOT of pictures and putting things online-no camera, no pictures, no $$$.

2. I'm a blogger. By definition, that means we carry cameras; It's a habit. Birds fly, fish swim, bloggers carry around a camera. Period.

So, as you can see, my livelihood depends a great deal on pictures and a camera, so being without a workable camera sets me back quite a bit more then the normal college adolescent.

Cue my wonderful, adoring, saint of a mother.

Since my birthday was coming up (Thursday actually!), she told me that my big present would be a new camera, and that I could get it early if I found one I liked.

I must say, I hopped on that computer so fast and started doing my research-asking questions, comparing reviews, viewing ratings-I think I researched myself out!

And behold, the fruit of my labor ~~born~~ bought November 1, 2011 at 6:04 pm CST courtesy of Best Buy.

Isn't she beautiful?! ^.^

I've already taken some absolutely stunning pictures with her (which will be shared in another post), and I can't wait to do more exploring!

I'm thinking about doing a review sometime in the near future, too :)

Welcome Aysha of Astella19 on Etsy!

Everything is bigger and ~~better~~ BOLDER in Texas, and with regards to today's featured artist and her jewelry, this is most definitely true!

Aysha hails from Houston, Texas and is a fellow college student! As we all know, students have to get a little creative when it comes to stress relief and making money-"I'm a college student who has been able to put together her two loves (business & creativity) and do something that I completely enjoy doing."

As of right now, college is Aysha's full time job and main focus, however, to her surprise, her jewelry making hobby turned into a part-time job and she's been able to afford a couple text books because of it!

Like many creative people before her, Aysha started her crafting journey because of her unique sense of style: "I started because my style has always been kind of out there at times and I love wearing things that aren't so mainstream." Once her family and friends saw the things she was making for herself, they encouraged her to start selling it, and here she is now with over 120 sales in her Etsy shop and 100% positive feed back :)

Jewelry is her main medium at the moment, but she confided in me that she would love to be able to learn how to crochet to make scarves and mittens, among so many other things.

As she writes in her Etsy profile, "Expression knows no boundaries; it's all about being bold and rocking it!"

Advice from Aysha: "Don't be afraid to venture out and start your own business if that's what you want; just remember that sometimes you have to be your own cheerleader when no one else has faith in what you are doing."

Seriously!? I would never have known if not for my curious nature mixed with my need to blog things-I was going through the comments on this particular treasury while writing a post for yesterday, and noticed a bunch of people saying, "congrats!" and "Yay for the front page!"

No wonder I had like 50 items hearts and my brooch from the treasury sold soon after :)
