I'm very excited for this particular Featured Blogger Friday because I get to share with you someone very special to me-My cyber mommy!
Dolly of
XmasDolly is such a wonderful, caring lady and one who has "adopted" me as her internet daughter-How can I
NOT have her on The Element!?
I hope you enjoy this great interview because she is one of those people who has so much to say and share!
Q. What’s your name and blog? What other information would you like to share?Well, the name of my blog is XmasDolly. It use to be The New XmasDolly, but that didn't work at all; well, not yet anyway. Other information is it was going to be The New XmasDolly because I started to diet, and it worked out for awhile because I lost 20 lbs., but my back started up again (I have Spinal Stenosis) and I couldn't exercise too much, so I'm working on getting that better first. Although, I'm still doing Water Aerobics (love it), when I can at the health club. They have an arthritic pool there I use.
Q. Why did you choose that name for your blog?May I say one thing about the name for my blog. I've had a few comments about the X in Xmas Dolly. Christmas stands by itself and everyone knows the meaning. There's not too many people that know the real story about Xmas. The X is actually a slanted cross the Christians used in the old days so they wouldn't get thrown to the lions (Google it). It's all there in black and white. Now why did I use that name? My dad gave my mom a Valentine's candy box years ago when I was little and there was a doll on it. She always put it out at Christmas time because she was all dressed in red. She's on my button. My mom passed away in 2006 and I inherited her, and she still comes out at Christmas time. Thus the name XmasDolly for my mom!
Q. Why did you start blogging?My daughter blogs and she was telling me how much fun it is. Meeting new people, learning things that people write about, and having fun. I'm a retired legal secretary and on disability as I noted above. I do work out of my home as a transcriptionist, but business is slow. So, she came over (my daughter is
NightOwlMama, Tricia), and taught me the ropes. She's actually still teaching me-I don't retain information well. Have to make notes.
Q. What kind of stuff do you cover with your blog? Is there a specific genre you write about or is the sky the limit?Oh Baby Girl, any that knows me knows "Sky's the Limit!" I write about everything and anything. Whatever comes to mind. From my children and grandchildren to my musician hubby. From what happens to me on the street, to jokes I get in e-mail. I love to share, love to talk, love to have fun! I also love music!
Q. What is one must read post that you have written {Include Link}?Well, I really don't know. I don't write something I don't want you to read of course. ~hehe~ There's the post I wrote about each of my children when I first started writing, but it's only special to me I guess. The only one I can think of is about the smile on my neighbors face. You can check it out
HERE. Plus, my daughter helped me with it too! I'm glad to update that post shortly due to a giveaway the sponsor has offered. I'm so glad.
Q. Name one thing you love about your blogging job.Okay, this is where my daughter and I differ. I say it like it is, or I don't say it at all. She puts facts where I like to put feeling. Do you understand that? I'm too old to be playing games now. I want to share my experience what little I have, but if I can help someone else, I'm all for it. If someone needs a friend, I'm there and if you need a shoulder or an ear, I'm there to wipe away the tears or listen. I love people. Love me back and we're friends for life. Cross me and I disappear. That's just the way I am. Don't get me wrong, I do forgive some things, but it's a situation kind of thing.
Q. Name one thing you’re not quite fond of about your blogging job.One thing? Girl, have you been reading my answers? I don't talk about just one thing. Okay, I'll try. Oh wait, I know. People put together meme's and giveaway list(especially these). People sign them to enhance their followers and entries on the giveaways. Well, these people take their time and their blog for us when they could have put up a giveaway or a post they wanted to, but "NO," they made a commitment to their fellow bloggers and they do it. So when I put my link up, I ALWAYS leave a comment even if it's only one stinkin' word: "THANKS." How long does it take to type the word 'Thanks'? There's over a hundred names on some of these, and I read how many comments; twelve. Twenty maybe. Oooooo, it just frosts me to no end! Why can't people be nice back?
Q. What’s one random fact about you?I talk too much! Lol
Q. Inspiration comes in many forms for different people. What inspires you?Oh my gosh, so many things! My children, grandchildren, and my husband mostly, but to tell you the truth, memories of my family. I love to share my good memories. My God inspires me mostly because he lets those memories happen, and I thank Him every day. Many times my friends also inspire me because the friends I have truly care. I live by the rule do on to others...And my favorite saying, "Oh Lord, fill my mouth with worthwhile stuff, and nudge me when I've said enough!"
Q. Where else can we find you(Personal Website, Etsy Shop, Twitter, Facebook, Etc.)?XmasDolly on Blogspot,
@XmasDolly on Twitter,
http://www.facebook.com/#!/mchamberlinmoody, xmasdolly at comcast dot net - I have been working on a private blog for now. It's a book I wrote a long time ago, and some day I might just finish that bugger!
