As you all know, I took a slight break from the artist/crafter features, and truth be told, I feel So. Incredibly. Guilty about it! I know guilt is a useless emotion in the eyes of many (or is that just me?), but that is half the reason I started this blog!
So needless to say, when the opportunity presented itself, I HAD to start back up with the features-It's like the universe saying, 'DO IT!'
What better way to ease back into the features then an artist who's work just blows my mind and makes my crafty juices flow; Say hello to Breanne of RococoWear on Etsy!
When directed to her Etsy store, you see her lovely (and truthful) motto: "...because fashion is sexy...Landfills aren't."As for Breanne, she is currently located in Traverse City, Michigan which is located in the Northwestern part of Michigan on the bay of Lake Michigan, which she moved to about 6 years ago from Northern California.
Of course like many talented artist before her, she was inspired by her mother growing up who was a gifted seamstress. "She would sew all of our dresses for weddings and special occasions, as well as Halloween," says Breanne. "When I was very young I was exposed to design and sewing technique. As a teenager I mainly shopped at thrift stores where I would hunt out clothing to alter to fit my personality."
Following in her mother's footsteps, Breanne has always designed clothing for herself, so it's not hard to believe that sewing is her main form of artistry. Just a few years ago, she branched out to the public with some of her different designs, which include (but aren't limited to) hats, bags and dresses.
"When you have a product that sells well, like The Zoe Hat, it is nice to take a break every once in a while and try to whip up new designs. You don't want to get caught up too much in the production aspect and forget the creative aspect of what you do. I like to challenge myself - when I am patient enough :)"
Truer words have never been spoken!!
Like her motto states, Breanne works in mostly recycled or repurposed materials (except for thread of course). "All of my fabrics are purchased from thrift stores or come from other clothing sources," she explains. "Even the buttons on my hats are vintage or taken from blazers. There are so many fabric resources out there that you don't have to spend an arm and a leg on!"
Things to know about Breanne and RococoWear:*Currently, Breanne is participating in the BravoBravo! Michigan Design Contest, which hopefully spread the word about her Earth-aware designs-Definitely check that out!

Advice from Breanne: "Patience, patience, patience, and perseverance. Growing up I never understood how my mother got ever stitch perfect. Now I know it was patience. I guess you get a lot of that just from raising three kids. But I've trained myself to be more patient and to keep going. I also know when it is time to close up for the night and go watch TV. Being careful not to overwork yourself is important too. Since my studio is next to my apartment I forget sometimes to separate work from everything else."
Unfortunately, some of the items in this post aren't listed in her Etsy shop-However, if you like what you see don't hesitate to contact Breanne! I see MANY things I like, so I can't imagine what you people see ;)
Love and Energies.
