To All My Readers.
Small Talk Six-A Question for a Teacher
I know it's a day late, but I promise I will post this on the right days from now on!As I was browsing through the internet and it's various blogs, I came across MomDot and their Join us for 'Small Talk Six' on Saturdays blog. It really is quite a unique and fun way to get all of us bloggers connected-I mean, what better way to become aquainted and say Hi then a little bit of small talk!?
If you wan't to participate in the small talk saturdays, go ahead and jump on over here and view the rules and all the dates and subjects for each saturday.
Of course todays is Sunday, but better late then never. Lol This weeks small talk is:
*6 things you always wondered about any of your teachers or professors when you were in school. You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .
1. How my high school psycology teacher could be a laywer, a profilist, a psycologist, AND a teacher. She had so many degrees, it was insane >.<
2. How my Anthropology/Archeology teacher could make everything she droned on about so boring for a good hour and a half even if the topic could have been interesting.
3. Why the hell my stupid 7th grade drama teacher didn't take us to London on a field trip. Like seriously, he took the year before us and the year after us got to go to New York. Ripoff!
4. What my Social studies teacher was thinking when I called him out on the health care in the United States after he referred to it as 'the best thing for us.' That was quite a debate!
5. Why my 6th grade teacher always had this idiotic grin on her face, no matter whether she was furious, happy, or disgusted. It was a little creepy.
6. And finally, if some of my teachers had sticks up their butts. Seriously, just because I was homebound, some of them treated me like complete crap. Granted homebound in my high school usually meant pregnant, but still get to know your students before completely hating them.
Have Faith-Milark's Creative Connections

I haven't featured a knitter or a painter in awhile and guess what!? Our next featured Etsy artist does BOTH. Plus a few extra things like sewing and jewelry making. She's a regular jack of all trades.
She also has a blog! Go ahead and check it out here.
A resident of Heartland, Iowa(hey, were state neighbors!), Mildred got started with Etsy when her daughter-in-law recommended the site. Of course Mildred had to check it out and shortly there after thought it was a great thing to do because she loves to handcraft things and she did have some vintage things she could contribute to her shop.
And Milark's Creative Connections was born!Mildred has been doing her crafts for some time now. She told me that she started out with the handwork when she was quite young and got into some of the other things, like painting, when her kids where a little older and out of the baby stage.
As for her preferance for materials, well, as I said above she is a jack of all trades! Here is what she had to say about what she uses; "I work with artists’ oils, acrylic, pastel, watercolor; I work with all types of yarn; I work with different kinds of fabric."
Everyone has inspiration, and when questioned, Mildred told me that her inspiration comes from her faith in the Bible and Savior Jesus Christ. Honestly, you can feel it when you walk into the store. It's a very powerful energy!
If you haven't yet, go on over and cruse through the store. There are items starting at $1.50 and scaling all the way up to $85.00, but I assure you, the pricing and quality are both more then fair!
I am in complete agreement with Mildred on the fact that Etsy is a wonderful place with wonderful people. "One important thing about Etsy is the special people you meet. One special friend I have is now fighting cancer." You never know who you are going to meet until it's time to meet them. Love and Energies go out to your friend!
Some things you should know about Mildred:
*Paypal payment is prefered, however she does accept RME or money orders. You just have to let her know before hand.
*Custom orders are most welcome so make sure to message her with any request you have!
*Shipping is usually next day.
Knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting, jewelry making, and that't not even all of it! Mildred of Milark's Creative Connections pretty much does it all in her lovely shop over at Etsy. Her prices are fair, her merchandise is beautiful, and her connection with her faith can be viewed through everything she creates. I highly suggest just going around and taking a quick peek in her shop!
Love and Energies.

I'm Queen of All Things Awe-Summm!!

I'm off to inform everyone!
Vintage Lovers Unite-WolvesandWeevils
Not only is buying vintage wares good for the environment, it's good for the soul! At least old souls such as myself. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one drawn to the old-Ever since I found Etsy, more and more vintage lovers are popping up and it's great seeing our individual tastes.Which brings me to introduce our feature of the day, a vintage lover just like me, Heather of Wolvesandweevils on Etsy!
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7143693
Healther is an 18 year old who currently lives with her artist boyfriend and as she describes him, painfully cute son Liam.
I do have to say, it's nice to see people my own age getting into Etsy and all it's glory. Makes you realize that the computer is definitely not age discriminate! Lol
As I was saying, Heather works as a certified nurse's assistant in an assisted living facility. She loves to do her vintage salvaging as a part time gig, but like many of us dreamers, hopes one day she will be able to make a living off her vintage lovelies alone. In the mean time, there are bills to pay.
She got started with Etsy when her and her boyfriend Brock screen printed onesies, formerly under the name liambaby. "I really enjoyed doing that, and it had its small successes, but I underestimated how time-consuming it is to fill custom orders for picky moms (like me)." So she decided to give that a break for awhile.
However, you can't stay away from Etsy too long! Her inspiration for opening her vintage shop, I find, quite humorous, and of course, something I would most definitely do myself!
I'll let you hear it from Heather yourselves.
"I opened up wolves and weevils one day after I went on a ridiculous vintage shopping spree. I came home, looked at all of the stuff I bought, and was like… no I SHOULDN'T’T have bought all of this. I have major issues with buying myself things, so I thought well.. since I can’t stomach spoiling myself, I’ll spoil others on Etsy with lovely vintage items that are decently priced."
So, needless to say, yay for all of us vintage lovers! he he
Some things you should know about Heather of WolvesandWeevils:
*All sales are final! So make sure you think long and hard about your vintage find before you purchase it and think to yourself you have no place to put it.
*Insurance is highly recommended for some items. Make sure to convo Heather before the sale for insurance rates.
*Any overcharge for shipping will be reimbursed via paypal. Isn't that nice to know :D
Now if your in the mood for some reasonably priced vintage goodies, hop on over to Wolvesandweevils because for one, it's updated daily and for another, your doing good by mother nature and your pocketbooks!
Love and Energies.

R.I.P Bea 'Dorthy' Arther.
One week ago at the age of 86, Beatrice Arther passed away peacefully in her Los Angeles home surrounded by family and friends. Known for her oustanding and witty performances in the hit tv sitcomes 'Maude' and 'The Golden Girls,' I know I'm not alone in saying that this is a terrible loss for us all.
I'm a HUGE Golden Girls fan and I stay up every night to watch the 3 episodes on tv that air from 11:00 pm to 12:30 pm here in Illinois(I'm an insomniac, what do you expect? Lol). Ironically, last Monday I was supposed to have a GG marathon with a close friend who has recently aquired all 7 seasons on DVD.
That morning last Saturday, my mother informed me that one of my favorite people had died-Knowing her, I thought, "Oh boy, who could it be?" She usually is quite the jokester, but she told me it was Bea and I was so sad! Watching Golden Girls knowing Estelle had past away was quite sad in and of itself, but now knowing that Estelle AND Bea are gone!?
Like I said, It's a great loss and we will all miss her dearly!

Rest In Peace Bea 'Dorthy' Arther

"Need a little Pick-Me-Up? Welcome to my shop,"is the catch phrase of this Friday's featured seller Heidi of Pick-Me-Up Boutique on Etsy!http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6988127
While browsing through her shop a few days ago, I came across that phrase in her shop announcements and knew I had a great opening for my newest blog entry! It just fell right into place :D
She also has a fresh new blog she just started! Make sure you go and check it out:
http://pickmeupboutique.blogspot.com/Heidi is a resident of Nashville Tennessee and is currently on a job search, as are a lot of people in this day and age because of the economy, but with all that spare time she has now, she loves to create her lovely jewelry and sell it on Etsy.
She first got started with Etsy when she was explaining to one of her best friends her 'crazy' as she put it, idea to start her own business for her handmade jewelry. Apparently that is when her friend mentioned Etsy. Can you say meant to be!?
When Heidi was younger, she LIVED for art classes. She told me it was always her favorite because it gave her a chance to explore and work with new mediums never worked with before. All those arts and crafts classes along the way have paid off because she has found many different things that keep her entertained and busy!
A few of those favorite activities that keep her happy are drawing and painting, building things, a little bit of welding now and again(I would love to learn that myself), and of course her jewelry!
With Heidi's jewelry, she works with mainly sterling silver and gold filled wire, along with a variety of gemstones, crystals and stones. Nothing but the best =]
If you have visited her store before, you can tell that she mostly specializes in earrings and rings. Her artistry is quite evident in any pair of earrings you will see from the funky wire wrapped earrings in the picture above to the more elegant dangle crystal earrings you see to the right.
Her prices range from $16.00 for a simple pair of hoop earrings up to $38.00 for an intricate swarovski crystal cascade earring set, but either way, there is something for everyone's price range!
I for one can't wait to see some of what she comes up with next.
Some things to know about Heidi of Pick-Me-Up Boutique:
*She is convo friendly and loves custom orders, so don't hesitate to contact her with your ideas!
*All payments will be processed through paypal
*All orders of $100.00 will receive free shipping!
So no matter what your price range may be, I'm absolutely sure that Heidi of Pick-Me-Up Boutique will work with you to get you a lovely pair of earrings that are both stylish and quality made! Make sure to brows around her shop where there are new and exciting things added periodically. Don't forget about her blog either!
Good luck Heidi from one jewelry maker to another :D
Love and Energies.

Never Orphaned-RedCatArtBeads
While looking around Etsy at all the wonderful stores, I noticed that there are a lot of people who do jewelry. Me being one of them, I'm always self conscious about my creations. I see so many wonderfully crafty and well put together pieces left and right and just think to myself, "there is no way to compete with that!"But then I realize that we all have our different tastes in jewelry and someone is bound to come across one of my lovelies and fall in love like I have fallen in love with countless jewelry miscellaneous since I have been on Etsy.
That being said, I would love, love, love to give that chance to another jewelry maker. Publicity is the best advertiser and today's featured artist is none other then Irina of RedCatArtBeads!
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6523555
Irina currently lives in Holyland, Israel. Her dad had a very big influence on her crafting career as a child, and when asked about how she started, she informed me she was"trying to imitate my dad, as all youngest daughters do." She started around the age of 10 with bark sculpting with a pen knife her father gave her as a present. From there, she moved to knitting and crocheting taught by her grandmother. Of course in between there where paper crafts, stain glass, and finally beadweaving!Irina got started on Etsy when a friend happened to mention it and like most of us, got stuck in the crafting world! However, she works as a computer programmer in 'real life.' She isn't giving up that easily on her Etsy dreams, aiming to become a success story in the near future.
"I like being on Etsy - is a wonderfully creative environment, even if once in a while you pass by an unpleasant comment or event."
As you noticed, she is a jewelry designer, but primarily works with small, weavable materials such as pearls, gemstones, crystals, and glass. She also likes wire wrapping very much(I need to learn that!).
What makes her jewelry stand out, is the fact that she doesn't like "orphaned" jewelry pieces, so she usually make sets: bracelets with necklaces most of the time. But sometimes necklaces and earrings also.
*All items are handmade by Irina and some are her original creations, so you will be one-of-a-kind!
*All items ship from Israel, so if your over at her shop and eyeing a particular lovely, make sure to pop on over to her shipping profile.
*She can only accept paypal payments.
That wraps it up for this blog feature(no pun intended). As you can see, Irina from RedCatArtBeads has quite the beadweaving and wire wrapping talent! Here pieces are unique and never orphaned ;-) So if your in need of a beautiful, handmade jewelry set, I highly suggest you stop on over to Irina's shop.
Love and Energies.

What in the World is an Elevator Pitch?

So here is an interesting and very helpful promotion tip that I got when surfing the blogging world. Thanks in part to Valerie over at Additions Style for giving me the idea to blog about!
An Elevator Pitch. Heard of it? For those of you who haven't, I shall explain it, but for those of you who have, put it into practice yet?
An elevator pitch(defined by wikipedia) is an overview of an idea for a product, service or project. It gets it's name because the pitch should reflect the time it takes you to ride the elevator to your destination. For example, a good 30 seconds maximum and 100 to 150 words.
Let's say you get on the elevator to go to lunch and who steps in beside you but the one person that you have wanted to talk to about your newest idea! Well think of the elevator pitch like a first impression, but for your idea.
Some question an effective pitch must answer:
*What your product, idea, or project is.
*What will it do for the potential buyer, sponsor, or investor. Like, what are the benefits?
*Who the heck are you and why you will be successful.
Your pitch needs to capture a person or investor's attention and make things easily understandable.
When you have your pitch, I suggest writing it down and rehearsing it over and over until you could say it in your sleep. You never know when someone will be interested! And when they are, you will be prepared to wow them :D

Paper, Paper, and More Paper-Confessions of a Scapaholic.
If the above picture caught your eye the moment you came to this post, I don't blame you! You have good taste-Lol-Today's featured seller is Sunny over from The Beehive!
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5349807
I was browsing through her Etsy store looking for the pictures for this post and absolutly fell in love with her product! When people say going green, Sunny pops right into my mind.
Her shop announcement says it all(and also made me giggle), "I am on a mission to get all the photos, souvenirs and memorabilia of the world out of those chintzy, mass-produced albums and dust covered, mildew prone shoe boxes and into beautifully handcrafted, archivally sound splendor."
Currently, Sunny is living in Hot Springs, Arkansas with her supportive husband and two little boys, one age 3 and the other almost 5. She told me that as far as she could remember, her mother was always making little handmade gifts and she took that aspect and applied it to her own life.Sunny learned about Etsy from a friend and when she had some time on her hands, she decided to check it out and of course like most of us, loved what she saw!
"I hope my Etsy shop will grow as my boys do so I won't find myself back in a working-for-the-man 9-5er," she commented in our conversation and honestly, I can't blame her! I wish you all the luck with that Sunny.
If you have looked through her shops and the pictures featured on the post, she deals mainly with paper, paper, and more paper. Of course, she also uses things to adorn that paper like ribbons, brads, and embellishments. She referres to them as 'the standard for a die hard scrapping addict!"
Her creations range from humorous bookmarks(pictured above) to crafty little keepsake boxes to premade scrapbook layouts, and not to mention the beautifully unique jewelry that captured your attention at the begining of the post!
Some other things you should know about Sunny of The Beehive:
*As stated in her shop announcement, special orders make her day! Just convo her with the information and she would be happy to make your day as well :D
*She accepts paypal and credit card payments, as well as, personal checks(she will ship your item when your check clears).
*She has a blog: http://thebeehivestore.blogspot.com/
*Of course, she's on Twitter too: http://twitter.com/thebeehivestore
I know the pictures have captured your attention! Like I said, I don't blame you, everything in Sunny's shop The Beehive are totally unique, colorful and not to mention green. If your in need of anything paper related, Sunny is your gal! In fact, I'm going to take a second look now that I am done(he he).
Love and Energies.

Girlies Only--I Despise Shaving My Legs...

Forget Overproduced Overpriced Jewelry-Caliklein
Attention all artists and crafters: Isn't it a dream of yours that your walking down a busy street or your shopping in a store and all of a sudden somebody comes up wanting to know where you got that absolutely amazing necklace and earring set or that stunning top? As soon as you say those 3 little words, "I made it," they want to buy it right off you!Well, our featured seller has gone through that! No kidding. I know that has always been a fantasy of mine and hearing that it can happen gives me new found hope.
So enough about my crafter's fantasies. Today, our featured seller is Cali of Caliklein!
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6262828
Cali is currently resides in New York and works as an industrial designer and design researcher. However, she is looking for a new job and with the time her job search provides for her, she devotes a lot of it to put into her jewelry and Etsy.
My favorite part of our conversation is when she told me how she got into jewelry. As some of us jewelry folk know, you get bored with the overproduced, generic designs you find shopping at your local mall or retail store, so Cali decided she wanted to create something never before seen
for herself.
Being unique of course caught the attention of many people, so she would get lots of questions about where she got her jewelry. When she informed them that she had made the necklace she was wearing or the earrings that she displayed, she would get requests for custom orders!
"One person even bought a necklace off of my neck!" Now again ladies and gentleman, THAT right there is my dream as a jewelry designer! Lol
Cali has some very beautiful pieces in her shop. They are a bit expensive, but she works with only the best quality material from fine silver (.999), sterling silver (.925), and 14k gold, to precious and semiprecious stones to pearls and swarovski crystal. If you don't believe my word, I believe the pictures speak for themselves.
There is always inspiration to madness as I like to put it and when asked, Cali told me that her inspiration can come from just about anything, big or small.
"Sometimes I'll get inspired to make a piece from an amazing dress that debuted in fashion week. Other times I'll find myself inspired by the lunch I just ate."
Some things to know about Cali of Caliklein:
*She loves custom orders. If you can see it in your head, she would love to work with you to make that image a reality!
*All items are shipped priority mail(2 day shipping in U.S.) and she does ship worldwide.
*Here are some other places Cali is located:
www.bloginessiness.blogspot.com/
www.mysticwynd.blogspot.com/
www.twitter.com/caliklein
So if your in need for beautiful jewelry that is both elegant and quite colorful, I suggest Cali of Caliklein. You can tell she puts all her effort into the pieces she makes and they are created with only the best materials. They may be a tad pricey, but I assure you, they are well worth it!

Health Advice Monday: Raw Food Diet Challenge
Raw Food Diet Challenge:*Better digestion

be at least a minumum of 3 months. So included with the Health Advice Monday, I will be updating you on my progress and for those of you who want to try the challenge, let me know and I will be sure to correspond with you throughout your journey as well(yours doesn't have to be 3 months though).Vintage Chic--HaroldandJane

Of course, it is always my pleasure to feature up and coming Etsy artists. From photography to jewelry to vintage to clothing, It's nice to help others succeed. Which brings me to the featured artist of the day, Theresa of HaroldandJane!
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7056656
Here are some other sites you can find Theresa:
http://www.twitter.com/HaroldandJane
http://bit.ly/7uKQA
Some things to know about Theresa of HaroldandJane:
*All her pieces are handmade with care and the best materials
*She only accepts paypal, but not to worry, you don't have to sign up with paypal to use a credit card!
*If your not happy with your purchase, she accepts returns up to 7 days upon receiving your jewelry piece for a full refund(minus shipping).
Feature:
Theresa is a 24 year old who graduated a few years ago, and has a degree in graphic design. She currently lives in Seattle with her amazing husband of almost 2 years.
Theresa grew up in a small town in North Idaho called Priest River with her mother, father and older sister. She told me that her mother was a very talented seamstress, while her dad does fine woodworking, so crafting comes quite natural to her."Growing up with a dad who specializes in fine wood working and a mom who can create anything with a piece of fabric and her sewing machine, I was destined to be an artist."
She opened her Etsy shop about a month ago with the help of her supportive husband. They are quite the team! She designs her lovely jewelry while he photographs it.
"Combining our backgrounds in Graphic design, my husband's photographic abilities, and my creations, we would like to think that we make up an unstoppable team."
Critique:
Of course I'm going to say more stock in your shop. That's always a must! The more the merrier as I like to say =]
But you have a great start.
In Betweeny:
Usually, I tell those who I critique to shorten they shop announcement, but in this case, I think you need one. I know when I come into a shop, I like to read about who these people are, what they are selling, anywhere else that I can reach them(blog, facebook, twitter) and if there are any specials going on.
The other in betweeny is your prices. I understand some of them can be a bit pricey because of the materials you use, but I also think some are a little pricey and can be brought down a bit.
Just an opinion =]Appeals:
I love the feel of your shop when you first come in. It's a mix of vintage and elegance. Something like vintage chic. Everything ties together well and flows seamlessly.
Your merchandise is very unique and vivid and wonderful! It's so large, but delicate all at the same time. Plus, I'm a sucker for anything that is or looks vintage =]
Your banner and avatar are great. Like I said, everything connects well in your shop and even though I suggest the avatar be of your merchandise, I like yours. It adds to the feel of your shop and it does show you wearing jewelry! he he
Your item names and item descriptions are very descriptive and creative. Definitely a great thing to have! The more creative and descriptive, the better.
I just have to complement Theresa and her husband at HaroldandJane on a great job! Au Natural--ElegantRoseBoutique

Okay, how can I NOT put something as deliciously appetizing looking as the main picture for this feature?! And something that looks like chocolate none the less! That would just be a sin-I love chocolate too much, real and fake to even consider such a sinister move like that >.<
Although, I would hope that you can tell it's fake. If not, then I think Chocoholics Anonymous is calling your name(*raises hand and looks around*). So the soap looks real and I want to take a big chunk out of it!? He he
As you could already tell, this featured artist specializes in all natural soaps and other natural products. Give it up for Melissa of ElegantRoseBoutique!
http://www.elegantroseboutique.etsy.com/
She has a blog too!! Check it out:
http://blog.memkeep.com/elegantrose/
Some things to know about Melissa of ElegantRoseBoutique:
*She uses Pure Essential Oils and herbs to make all her natural bath and body products including handmade soap, bath scrubs and fizzies. The Essential Oils are added to each of her bath and body items to relax, energize, sooth or just to give a wonderful aroma.
*She does custom orders! Just convo her with the details.
*You will receive free gift with purchase! Oh boy ^.^
Feature:Melissa is a stay at home mother of 8 children, who currently lives in the beautiful state of Michigan. On top of that fact, they live in the country(luckies!) and have a considerable amount of animals to care for =]
She has been crafting whenever time allows for quite sometime. She started her Etsy shop last November because her daughter had been very successful with her shop(http://www.dollcloset.etsy.com/) and so Melissa thought she would give it a try.
At this point in her life, Etsy is a hobby. Looking at her store, I would say a successful hobby at that!
Due to the health issues of her and her family, she has been using essential oils to help them all for the past 8 years."So, when I started making soap, it was like an extension of what I was already doing."
Melissa uses all natural ingredients and colorants in her soaps and other products and enjoys experimenting with different scent combinations.
"My favorite so far is the salt scrub I made using peppermint and tangerine essential oils. It smells terrific!"
Critique:
I really can't find anything I don't like! It's all so wonderfully put together and full of life, I can almost smell everything =]
Appealing:
Refer above!-Lol-I really love it all.
Your products looks so great I don't know whether I just want to eat some of it or excessively inhale the individual smells! I already told you I would eat the chocolate soap. He he
I think the energy to your shop is very soft and feminine, but quite appealing. It definitely reminds me of a specialty shop that sells high end, all natural products.
Of course I don't have to say that all natural is the way to go! Bravo to you for going that route. Not many people do anymore(at least off of Etsy).
Your banner and avatar are nice. They go with the soft feel of your shop and let people know what they are getting into.
I love the way your descriptions are. You tell what ingredients you have in your products and explain what it does, which is both helpful and appealing.
Melissa of ElegantRoseBoutique is quite the business woman and mother. With her 8 kids to keep her busy, she still finds time to make and sell her all natural products. I would say that is success in and of itself! Congratulations Melissa and I just want to say you have my gratitude for making your product all natural and 'sick people' friendly for lack of a better word.
Good luck with everything!
Love and Energies.

Writers Workshop--If I Only Had 400 Dollars!
I came across this fun and quite unique blog writing assignment and thought I would give it a try! Knowing me, I like to add a little spice up between the events and other people I blog about.
I'm a human too and sometimes, you just need to say 'Me Me Me'
So here it is. The rules of this game are simple. Go to Mama's Losing it's blot(link above) and pick out of the 5 topics to choose from. I'm not going to list them cause then you wouldn't be able to see what everyone else wrote, now could ya!?
I chose prompt numero uno-
If I sent you four hundred dollars today what is ONE thing you would spend it on and why.
Well, that is a very good question, and normally I would say I would use it on my increasingly rising medical bills. However, were talking about pretend money here in a pretend world where I can blow it all on whatever I want :-)
No being responsible and buying college classes. No being generous and giving it to charity. No, I'm going to be selfish for once!
Which is why I'm going to use it to buy $400 dollars worth of supplies to start my own business! That is right, more beads, wire, and findings. Trips to the local Salvation Army, Garage sales, and of course Ebay(they have some great deals) to scavenge for vintage and antique jewelry. The proper permits and whatnot. Last but not least, the fees and money to get it all up and running!
Now the question is why. Well I think it's self explanatory. I'm sick and unable to work. I need to afford my medical bills some way. Then there is college to think about. I need money and this is a perfect way to do it right now. I have all the time in the world =]
Now it's your turn!! Go ahead and tell me what you would do if I sent you a million dollars in my comments. Then go over to Mama's Losin' It and read about the writers workshop.
When you have written yours, I would love to read it so link me!!
Retro Chic--DitzyRedhead

Happy Friday everyone! Hopefully you are enjoying every aspect from the fact that it's FRIDAY to the beautiful weather(Mother Nature willing) wherever you all are coming from.
While browsing through her shop, I like the fact that everything is not pure vintage, but not pure modern, either. It's more vintage with a hint of modern edge.
She also has a website!! Check it out:
http://www.rubydaffodildesign.com/
Some things to know about Marchelle of DitzyRedhead:
*She takes paypal and will also except money orders, casheir and personal checks(she will ship item when personal check clears).
*She loves custom orders so don't hesitate to convo her and let her know what you want!
*Due to the care and time put into her work, she does not accept returns, however she is willing to exchange if necessary.
Most of her life, Marcelle has been involved in some sort of art or another. From painting little boxes to creating large and intricate murals, she always has her hands in something art related!
Now living in Los Angeles and working as an Auditor in customer service, she tells me she would love for Etsy and her art to be her number one job so she can create all the time without the hassle of a 9 to 5 job.
She first came across Etsy when she was surfing the web and most of the sites kept directing her to Etsy saying "she should check this out!"
At this moment in time, she uses mostly acrylic paint to paint with because she likes the pliability of it. What she likes to paint ON is a different story. She isn't limited to one particular thing and her choices range from ornaments to wooden boxes to canvas, or other similar such things.
"What I like to work with depends on what I feel like painting on."
Like many of us, she has her inspirations. She draws alot from the 40's and 50's pin-up styles with their hairstyles, make-up, and clothing. Marcelle is also really taken with Asian culture and their unique influence on things. Day of the Dead is another cultural aspect that influences her work from time to time.
"It all just makes me feel happy inside - warm & fuzzy if you will!"
Critique:
Of course the first thing I am going to say to you is more merchandise. Always a good thing =] But you have a great start great start!
You seem like your doing quite well by yourself! I do like what you do. That mix of vintage with a hint of modern thrown in is very appealing.
Your banner is what struck me first, though. It so YOU! It puts off energies that just drip vintage chic with a twist of punkish in there.
Your descriptions are quite humorous on some and very descriptive on others. I think it's nice to tell a good story in between the humor and descriptiveness.
I think my favorite would have the be the colors that swim around your shop. Everything is so vivid and colorful that you don't know where to look first =]
There you have it everyone! A lovely featured seller on a Friday. What more could you want?! With her vintage and modern appeal combined with her full-of-life colorful merchandise, Marchelle of DitzyRedhead is definitly one to check out if your style is retro =]
Love and Energies.
