Let's welcome Ginger of My Personal Oasis on Etsy!

Hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, unlike many crafters before her, Ginger got started with her crafts recently-A friend of hers at work makes her own jewelry, and at that point, Ginger was going through a pretty stressful time that she thought having a hobby might help. Asking her friend for help, she got Ginger started making jewelry. "To my surprise, it turned into a real escape for me-That is actually where my shop name came from - My Personal Oasis."

Speaking of co-worker, that should have tipped you off that Ginger's jewelry isn't a full time job; She works as an IT Manager at a large company. "So much of my day job (and my personality) is all about planning and control and structure. My approach to my craft is totally the opposite. I never know what I am going to make when I sit down at my table. Liberating is the word for it, I think!"

As you can tell, she makes some very lovely individual jewelry pieces and sets, but it doesn't stop there: She also enjoys different paper and bead crafts with her children and cross stitch(although her wrists pay for that particular hobby).

With her jewelry, Ginger works with many different things, but she is most drawn to semi-precious stones-"I really enjoy the variety of colors, textures and shapes that you can get." Now besides her semi-precious stones, she is starting to get into pearls more.

Ever the jeweler, Ginger told me she is inspired by the beads she works with themselves. When shopping for her materials, she often pictures designs in her head(hey, that's how I do it, too!) and can't wait to get to creating!

Advice from Ginger: "I guess I'd say make sure that you're doing something you really enjoy first and foremost. That's probably true throughout life anyway. I think that finding a way to share what you're doing with others is another piece of advice I would have. Whether it's through a forum community (like Etsy has) or a group in your hometown with similar interests... you can learn and grow so much through those relationships."
