Welcome Kathie of Thinking of You Gift Shop! If your not familiar with the shop name, you may know her by her username, birder1.
Kathie started out like many of us-Always loving making 'pretty' things for family and friends. "It's great fun coming up with ideas, searching everything out, and putting it all together. It is such a thrill to think that others like what I make enough to actually buy some of it."
She got started with the infamous Etsy site when she saw a feature on the Martha Stewart show about Etsy and it's many artists and crafters. Of course she was curious and checked it out right away-"I did some shopping and over time decided to try my hand at selling. I eventually put some things together and opened up shop. The first things I made were 10 handstamped card sets. I had such fun doing it that I decided to do some notebooks. Then I made that first sale. It was one of the notebooks. I was hooked! Things snowballed after that and, now I just keep adding to my shop whenever I came up with something new."Unlike many of the features I've done in the past, Kathie devotes her shop to gifts-Of course many of the items you find on Etsy can be purchased for a special someone, however, Kathie's shop is devoted to gifts, which is surprisingly refreshing! You can find many wonderful gift-like items from candle and soap sets to theme related items like gardening or seasonal things.
There are artsy people and there are crafty people and Kathie is definitely a crafty person If I ever saw one!! She definitely gives you that good vibe :D I love the way she explains what she does: "I'm a visual person and I love color, texture and form. I guess what I'm trying to do is capture the feelings I experience by making something tangible."
That's a great way of looking at things!!

Advice from Kathie: "I would say to other crafters, do what makes you happy. I, personally, make things that I would give as gifts and think are pretty and functional. If you love what you make it will show, and you will stay inspired. Also, you've got to do some advertising and networking. Get your name out there. The forums on Etsy are a great place to start. "Etsyians" are very generous when it comes to helping and sharing knowledge. The forums have helped me learn so much. I spend time on them every day and almost always come away with some new bit of helpful information. If you stay with it and don't get discouraged people will eventually find you, and when they do it makes all the time and effort you put into your shop worthwhile."
Stop on by Thinking of You Gift Shop on Etsy and see what interesting thing you can find!
Love and Energies.

Thank you so much for featuring my Etsy Shop.
nice feature. I like what kathie says about making things that you would give as gifts and make something you like..it shows. I truly believe that. I used to sell jewelry for a party company. When they changed from jewelry I loved to jewelry I hated, I had to stop selling for them. I wouldn't give it for Christmas, and didn't believe in it anymore...so I couldn't sell it. Great advice and great feature.
